Third KinoKino Festival Opens Today!

On Wednesday, 14 February at 7pm, with a screening of the Swedish box office hit Up in the Sky at Europa Cinema in Zagreb, the 3rd edition of KinoKino International Film Festival for Children begins. After the outer space adventure and launching the first eight-year-old to the orbit, the next four days of the Festival, closing on Sunday, 18 February, the big screen will host around 30 short and feature films that focus on children’s curiosity and passion for explorations in different ways.
Our film protagonists, from France, Germany, Sweden, Cyprus, all the way to Columbia, always find themselves in situations that appear hopeless, and their curiosity and inquisitive nature always strives to justice and making their own and other people’s lives better. Among eight new titles in the main programme are the Norwegian prairie adventure Oskar’s America, the Cyprian drama Boy on the Bridge, the Columbian comedy Bad Lucky Goat and one of the most praised children’s films of the previous year, the award-winning German comedy about life with diversities, At Eye Level.
The official section Discovering Every Day includes five short films suitable for 7+ age group, and the screenings will be organised as special interactive events accompanied by a talk about emotions. The chosen shorts are Binary Star, Gemma, Scrap Dolls, Samedi Cinema and the Croatian film Dawn by Krasimir Gančev, about a talented gymnast falling in love with football. For the third year in a row, the Festival features a selection of short animations suitable for preschool children First Time at the Cinema, and for the very first time the programme will take place in both of Europa cinema’s auditoriums: the large hall and the Müller Hall.
