KinoKino Festival: winners announced!

The first edition of KinoKino – International Film Festival for Children was officially closed with the announcement of winning movies and award ceremony on Saturday, March 19th at cinema Europa, and the winning movies from both Feature and Short Fiction selection categories were chosen independently by the professional jury and the seven member children jury.
The professional jury, whose memebers were Slovenian director Miha Hočevar, program coordinator of Zlín Film Festival Jaroslava Hynštová and the Croatian director Daniel Kušan awarded the best Feature Fiction award to the movie Rainbow by the Indian director Nagesh Kukunoor. Along with the KinoKino award, the director will also receive a cash prize of 1000 euro, from the sponsor Beiersdorf d.o.o. In the Short Fiction category the prize was awarded to the Irish movie Little Doll by the director Kate Dolan. The young actress Rebecka Josephson was awarded a special mention for her role in the Swedish movie My Skinny Sister by the director Sanna Lenken.
The children jury of the first KinoKino Festival was comprised of seven elementary school students: Lorna Ilić, Rok Jakopović Potz, Katarina Jukić, Viktor Mijatović, Laura Radičević, Lovro Svetina and Karla Škrlec. They awarded the best Feature Fiction award to the Dutch movie Little Gangster by director Arne Toonen. The award for the best Short Fiction film was given to the American movie Before the Bomb directed by Tannaz Hazemi. Along with the award the director will receive a cash prize of 500 euro, from the sponsor Beiersdorf d.o.o.
After the award ceremony the out of competition movie Lost Pencil from the director Fedor Škubonja was screened, one of the greatest childrens movies of all times, so the competitive program of KinoKino Festival, comprised of a total of seventeen international short and feature fiction films from recent production, was completed with one classic from the Yugoslavian cinematography.
